Learning a modern foreign language allows pupils to develop vital communication skills and open the door to other cultures. We believe that language learning should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. Our teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond in both speech and in writing. It should also provide opportunities for them to communicate for practical purposes and learn new ways of thinking. Our aim is to provide pupils with a foundation and keen interest for further language learning at secondary school and beyond, along with a sense of how languages can be useful in their personal and professional lives.
